THIS summer holiday, how about trying something arty? We’re not talking paints and canvas here, but film and photo at Quad, Derby.

A new series of Digital Summer activities for youngsters (12-16) runs through August, covering comic book production, short film making and 2D animation production.

The courses cost Pounds 60 for three half-day sessions and booking is essential.

In August, Quad will host Shoot Derby photo-story workshops, offering the chance to learn photographic skills and create a photographic story. There are free workshops on Saturday August 7, 14 and 28 from 1pm to 3pm, suitable for ages five and over. Look out for more details of Shoot Derby in the Telegraph’s Qt section.

For younger children, a summer playground will be installed in Derby Market Place for August, with free family-friendly creative sessions suitable for children aged three and over.

For details of all events, visit www.derbyquad.co.uk.
